As we enter a period of rapid growth, we’re on the lookout for a Group Finance Systems Manager to join our Finance team in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, Salford Quays, Manchester or Guernsey to support our five-year growth and development plan.

You’ll have excellent communication skills, amazing analytical skills and will drive process improvements, ensuring the finance teams have the right tools and system controls to maximise the department’s effectiveness.

In-the-know of new and emerging finance system markets and an eye for technological improvement, you’ll be owner, administrator, architect and lead analyst of the core finance systems used by the Group and subsidiary finance teams, including the general ledger, reporting and modelling applications.
Job responsibilities
  •  Accountable for the finance system change process, leading design and development of wider business change and internal finance change
  • Business owner of the software supplier relationships, ensuring any software vendor relationships are managed in line with the Group’s supplier management policy and ensure maximum leverage is achieved in the finance operating model
  • Accountable for finance system updates and development work across all finance systems
  • Together with the SFLT, accountable for the design and execution of the finance systems’ strategy and ensuring this is continually adapted to complement the Group’s operating model
  • With support from the Group’s IT function, ensure the architect design of the finance systems are maintained in a sustainable and flexible manner to ensure business change and business growth can be accommodated with ease
  • Accountable for maintenance of the administration of the finance systems and ensure key system controls and integrity can be relied upon in the financial integrity of the Group’s financials and operating model
  • Ensure system control use is maximised across the finance function to maintain an effective operating model for the wider finance teams
  • Review and assess wider business change impacting finance and ensure the relevant SME and finance leads are engaged in any system or business process change effecting finance
  • Continually review the finance system market to ensure the Group’s finance functions are maximising technological improvement within the teams operating model
  • Principle owner/product owner of the core finance system/general ledger across all touchpoints across the Group
  • Management, coaching and feedback to direct reports to achieve KPIs and SLAs, and conducting regular performance reviews, including probationary reviews and annual appraisals, monitoring absence, conducting disciplinaries and assisting in the recruitment process
Skills, knowledge & experience
  • Qualified accountant with ACCA or ACA
  • Proven experience in an accounting function within personal lines insurance and/or intermediary market together with insurance accounting, IFRS or UK GAAP and knowledge of direct and indirect tax
  • Robust leadership skills with the ability to inspire and coach together with strong analytical, communication and organisational skills to drive process improvement, based upon analysis of data
  • Data modelling and strong reconciliation capabilities
  • Experience in growing and developing a finance team in a high-growth business, covering financial accounting and financial operations disciplines
  • Experience in deployment and replacement of a core finance system/GL
  • Experience in a finance system’s function across multiple tax and regulatory jurisdictions
