Due to expansion, we have a fabulous opportunity for a Strategic Procurement Manager to join our brilliant Procurement team in Haywards Heath, West Sussex.
 
You’ll be joining at an exciting time as the business is rapidly growing and your role will involve driving the implementation and management of the annual Strategic Procurement plan; ensuring that it’s delivered in the timescales agreed with key stakeholders. You’ll also ensure that it delivers commercial and operational outputs expected, minimising risk and is delivered using best-in-class procurement strategies.

Job responsibilities
  • Take ownership of the delivery of procurement projects detailed in the Strategic Procurement Plan - managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring timely execution of sourcing activities in line with pre-agreed project plans
  • Oversee, and where required manage, the Procurement Category Managers where they’re required to deliver activities as part of the Strategic Procurement Plan
  • Utilise deep understanding of industry, supplier dynamics and market trends to determine sources of leverage
  • Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks and issues to support the delivery of a robust and effective procurement service
  • Structure and lead commercial negotiations to ensure value for money is constantly achieved with the most appropriate supplier partners
  • Ensure controls are in place and are actively managed, demonstrating the business’ adherence to the Procurement and Supplier Management policy and procedures
  • Provide information to the Group Head of Procurement and Supplier Management which will assist in the forecasting, re-forecasting and on-going reporting on procurement activity and budgets as and when required
  • Support the Group Head of Procurement and Supplier Management in the development and continuous improvement of the procurement service being delivered, actively promoting the use of best practice procurement methodology
  • Ensure compliance with company and other relevant standards and regulations at all times (including TCF)
  • Deputise for the Group head of Procurement and Supplier Management when required
 Skills, knowledge & experience
  • A demonstrable background in Strategic Procurement within a complex environment
  • Experienced in the formulisation and implementation of procurement strategies including supplier assessment and due diligence, and ongoing management
  • Experienced in negotiating critical contracts whilst minimising business risk and maximising commercial benefit through scale and relationships
  • Solid experience of supplier management including the ability to analyse performance metrics
  • Solid experience of a range of indirect procurement categories
  • Excellent knowledge of procurement strategy development and execution
  • Knowledge of FCA requirements (including TCF)
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills
  • Advanced negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical skills to identify cost-saving opportunity
