What are cookies?
Cookies are very small text files that are downloaded on to your computer, tablet or mobile when you visit a website. This is a common feature of almost all websites today because they enable features that make websites easier to use.
- Recognise you from page to page when you are browsing the site, so we can deliver a ‘joined-up’ and efficient website journey
- Recognise you on repeat visits, minimising the amount of information that you have to re-enter and enabling us to deliver you more relevant content
- Track how you interact with our website, which gives us insight into how we can make the website better for users
Types of cookies
There are two types of cookies: ‘session’ and ‘persistent’ cookies.
These cookies allow us to remember you within any one visit to our site. They help us tie together your web experience as you move from page to page. These will automatically be enabled, unless you choose to disable them.
When you leave the site, these cookies do not remain on your machine, they simply expire.
Persistent cookies are set when you visit our site for the first time and they remain on your computer, reactivated on future visits.
Without them, our site would function ok, but you would miss out on enhanced content and features, and we would miss out on finding out really key information that we use daily, to make our site better for users.
The following is a list of the persistent cookies we use and the reasons we use them:
This tool allows us to anonymously track how you interact with our site, with a view to improving content and processes on the site to make it better for our users.
Content Management System
Our Content Management System uses a small number of cookies to remember user settings including which cookies are enabled/disabled.
We have chosen to display a LinkedIn plugin on the site, which provides a link through to our LinkedIn profile. If you are logged into LinkedIn, this will also enable you to follow/unfollow First Central and show you First Central employees in your network.
We use addthis.com to enable sharing of our jobs and news articles on social media such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
