We have some fantastic opportunities for Data Warehouse Engineers to join our talented Technology team in either Haywards Heath, West Sussex, Salford Quays, Manchester or our offices in Guernsey.

You’ll design, create, maintain and manage data warehouse and analytics architecture and physical components for enabling better use and wider consumption of First Central’s data. 
Focusing on cloud data technologies, you’ll be responsible for designing, articulating and delivering appropriate solutions, ensuring they’re secure, efficient and accessible.
 
 
Job responsibilities
  • Work with other members of the Data Engineering team to assist in the definition and development of processes and technical solutions that support secure and efficient data storage, access and querying
  • Develop solutions that support a variety of on and off-premise high volume and throughput data sources to enable the effective storage and modelling of data, ensuring it’s optimised for storage and to meet requirements for business and technical use cases
  • Work with other members of the Data Engineering team to ensure data can be transformed into storage and reporting structures in data warehouse objects that support real-time reporting systems and analytics applications using high volumes of data
  • Support new and existing ETL processes, employing industry standards and best practices to enhance the loading of data from and into different source and target systems
  • Support relationships with the other areas of FCG to ensure that requirements can be developed
  • Ensure solutions support the architectural direction of FCG technology and use approved technical components
  • Provide analytical skills into understanding and communicating design specifications to facilitate technical development, including the creation of both high-level and detailed design documentation and impact estimation
  • Fulfil the role of a subject matter expert in data warehousing best practice and implement those practices
  • Work to the agreed prioritisation of requirements for development and to the agreed delivery dates against these requirements
  • Assist in the identification of root causes and fixes for major incidents where required
 
 
Skills, knowledge & experience
  • A Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degree, and/or Microsoft Certified qualification in implementing a SQL Data Warehouse and/or Azure Certification is desirable
  • Proven work experience in data warehousing, ideally in an SQL environment and large data sets in an enterprise environment
  • Knowledge of logical and physical model design and implementation
  • Experience of data warehouse schema and dimensional modelling techniques to support business consumption of data
  • Experience in Azure data components including, Azure SQL Data Warehouse and Azure Analysis Services
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to adopt a logical approach to solving problems
  • Strong skills in developing code, testing for quality assurance, administering and monitoring of databases
  • Identification and management of risk
  • Ability to create and maintain sets of reference architecture documentation
  • An organised and pro-active approach with emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy
