We’re on the hunt for a talented Programme Manager to join our Business Services team in either Salford Quays, Manchester or Haywards Heath, West Sussex. The successful candidate will need experience of managing multiple projects.
Job responsibilities
  • Achieve the agreed strategic business outcomes, delivering the associated benefits and where necessary manage/adapt the delivery of projects in support of those goals
  • Partner, and where appropriate, constructively challenge business leaders up to and including Executive Committee level to maximise the successful delivery of the programme(s)
  • Lead relationships with key external third party suppliers where appropriate, ensuring delivery to time, quality and budget
  • Act as a creative and insightful problem solver in conjunction with the programme team(s) to resolve seemingly intractable issues
  • Coach, mentor and facilitate the learning and development of change and technology functions and, where appropriate, colleagues from the wider business in the delivery of change and their broader professional development
  • Be an active member of the wider technology community, contributing to the development of tools, processes and the capabilities of programmes and change colleagues and identifying ways to develop and enhance the value of programmes and change within the wider business
  • Establish and maintain a roadmap of change that delivers strategic goals and financial/non-financial benefits including (but not limited to) revenue growth, maintenance of competitive advantage in rating, pricing and CX, operating model development for cost control and reduction, management of risk & loss ratio and product diversification
  • Own and control the budget and business case for the programme(s) of projects under the role holder’s control
  • Maintain momentum and direction, delivering to the agreed scope, timeframe and budget with resource planning and accurate estimation treated as fundamental principles
  • Ensure effective requirements, plans, reporting and stakeholder management processes are in place for all the projects comprising the programme(s) the role holder leads

Skills, knowledge & experience
  • Demonstrable experience of managing the transactional delivery of large-scale, complex business and IT change programmes
  • Strategic and benefits leadership, ensuring the focus is on delivery of the strategy and the benefits (rather than only delivery of the projects)
  • Senior stakeholder management, with the ability to constructively challenge, win the respect of and negotiate effectively with senior management up to and including Executive Committee level
  • Role model and leader of people – ability to guide, steer and coach programme team members to enable them to deliver effectively and develop professionally
  • Proven understanding of project and programme management techniques in different change environments (Agile, Waterfall, RAD, SCRUM etc.)
  • Financial management – the ability to estimate and budget effectively, allowing for suitable contingency, and the ability to put together a robust and achievable business case in conjunction with Finance and business leaders
  • Experience of working within an FCA regulated industry, ideally within financial services or insurance
  • Confident with MS Office / MS Project / SharePoint / TFS / Gemini / Atlas
