We have a fantastic opportunity for two Accounts Assistant to join our fun and high-performing Finance team in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, Salford Quays, Manchester or our offices in Guernsey.

First Central is currently experiencing an exciting period of growth and is investing in systems that will keep our accounts balanced. Would you like to join us on this exciting journey, supporting the processing, payment and bookkeeping for the Group’s payable and receivable ledgers? As our new Accounts Assistant, you’ll perform key transactional reconciliation activity across business and finance systems to ensure timely and accurate information is maintained in the financial ledgers.

With responsibility for daily bookkeeping ensuring it’s maintained in line with internal policies and procedures, you’ll pull together timely and accurate financial information that’s representative of the business performance.
 
Job responsibilities
  • Maintain the accounts’ payable and receivable ledgers, ensuring accurate recording and processing of transactions
  • Support monthly statement process for key accounts
  • Handle supplier queries and disputes in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform key reconciliations on a daily and weekly basis across the bank accounts and systems across the business
  • Provide analysis of reconciling items showing monthly ageing and supporting business ownership for resolution
  • Identify and recommend process and system changes for first line control failures leading to unreconciling items being created
  • Prepare schedules for the team in preparation of the Group’s audit, ensuring the year-end audit process runs smoothly
  • Adherence to the Group accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with company and other relevant standards and regulations
 
 
Skills, knowledge & experience
  • AAT qualified or equivalent or significant relevant equivalent experience
  • Experience in running purchase or sales ledger and/or bookkeeping and double entry within a shared services function
  • Experience in organisations of high growth and change
  • Preferable industry knowledge of the financial services/regulated industry in the UK
  • Awareness of internal and external fraud that’s prevalent in finance departments and the financial services sector
  • A good level of oral and written communication skills, communicating effectively with managers, colleagues and external supplier
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to drive process improvement, based upon analysis of data
  • Work effectively under pressure and think clearly and logically in challenging situations
  • Results driven with a constant eye on the detail but understand the audience.
