Flexible working

We recognise the benefits of adopting a flexible working approach and culture here at First Central. That’s why we’ve introduced an innovative and flexible policy to work and working practices, which will empower colleagues to work flexibly whilst meeting the needs of the business. Pension scheme

We offer a workplace pension scheme for all employees.

For UK-based employees, there’s a contributory pension scheme, which is in line with auto-enrolment legislation. This means that both you and the company make a contribution towards your pension once you’ve been with us for three months. The percentage of these contributions depends on your employee grade.

For employees based in Guernsey or Gibraltar, you’re entitled to join the company pension scheme once you’ve successfully completed your probation period and you can chose whether to personally contribute towards it.


We give you an extra day off to celebrate a special day, like your birthday, or for when you just really need a day to yourself. You can book your ‘YOUday’ off at any time throughout the year, subject to your line manager’s approval.

Generous holiday entitlement

All employees receive a generous holiday entitlement, and this will be detailed in your employment contract. If you take a part-time role with us, you'll receive a pro-rata equivalent and your holiday and public holidays will be calculated in hours.

Holiday Extra

If you’re a lover of holidays, Holiday Extra could be right up your street! It’s an opportunity for you to buy up to five additional days of annual leave on top of your usual holiday entitlement.

We also know that some years are busier than others and your plans can change at the last minute. So we've also made it possible for you to sell up to five days of your holiday entitlement too. 
There are two opportunities each year to buy or sell annual leave, once you’ve passed your probation, and subject to your line manager’s approval. 


We’re passionate about giving back to the communities where we work, and our aim is for these communities to benefit directly from our presence, through our support of local initiatives, charitable events and the community as a whole.  

We love getting our people involved too, so we encourage everyone to take one day’s paid leave for volunteering each year. We have an enormous range of worthwhile groups that we volunteer with – from the RSPCA and Manchester’s Beacon Drop-In Centre to St Peter & St James Hospice, the EBA and the Little Chapel Foundation.

Health cash plan

Our UK-based employees can access the health cash plan, which is designed to help you claim money back towards your everyday healthcare costs, such as your dental check-ups and eye sight tests. You can also add four children up to the age of 21 to your plan for free.

Not only that but you’ll get access to an online portal that offers a range of discounts and health tools.

Employee Assistance Programme

The Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is here to help you balance everyday life together with the requirements of work and home. There’s a 24/7 telephone helpline available to all employees and their family members living at the same address, which offers a range of support services such as a stress helpline, advice on family and relationship matters, health and wellbeing information and much more.

The EAP also includes access to the online health portal, which provides information about nutrition, fitness and health checks.

Season ticket loan

If you make the same journey more than two or three times a week, a season ticket for public transport could save you a considerable amount of money compared with buying daily tickets.

Once you’ve successfully completed your probation period with us, you’ll be able to take advantage of a season ticket loan. We’ll provide you with an interest-free loan to cover the cost of a quarterly or yearly season ticket for rail, bus or car parking services, which will be repaid on a monthly basis from your salary.

Group Life Assurance

The Life Assurance scheme provides a death in service payment, which is equivalent to four times your annual salary. When you join us, you’ll be given the opportunity to complete an expression of wishes form and provide details of your chosen recipients.
