We’re 1st Central, a market-leading insurance company utilising smart data and technology at pace. Rapid growth has been based on giving our 1.4 million customers exactly what they want: great value insurance with an excellent service. And that’s the same for our colleagues too; we won Insurance Employer of the Year at the British Insurance Awards 2024 and our Glassdoor score is pretty mega too!

At 1st Central, we don’t just tick boxes when it comes to privacy - we protect what matters.

We’re on the lookout for a Privacy Analyst for a 6 month fixed term contract. If you're someone who’s passionate about data protection, keen to roll up their sleeves and you’ve got a sharp eye for detail, love digging into investigations, and enjoy making a real difference in how privacy risks are managed, this could be the role for you.

We’re big on flexibility. Our teams are spread across Salford Quays, Manchester and Haywards Heath, West Sussex, but we work from home most of the time. We think collaboration is pretty great though, so we like to get together now and then - just to keep those creative sparks flying. Prefer being in the office more often? That works for us too. We’re even open to remote working - all we ask is that you join us in person about once a month to stay connected and keep those face-to-face vibes alive.

Skills you’ll need to be a great fit for the role:

  • Previous Experience in Data Protection - you’ll bring a solid foundation of knowledge and know-how from working in a privacy or data protection role.

  • Enjoys Getting Stuck In - you won’t shy away from the detail and will happily roll up your sleeves to get the job done.

  • Analytical Mindset - you’ll be able to step back, look at the bigger picture and spot trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.

  • Can-Do Attitude and Strong Communication Skills - you’ll bring positivity, be a great team player, and communicate clearly with colleagues across the business.

What’s involved:

  • Support the DPO (Data Privacy Officer) with reporting on privacy risks, DPIAs (Data Protection Impact Assessments), data rights management volumes, and control effectiveness for management reporting.

  • Maintain the corporate register for data protection breaches and support investigations, assessing root causes and recommending remedial actions.

  • Support incident response and data breach notification procedures as required by the Privacy Manager or DPO.

  • Conduct monitoring activity in line with the monitoring plan and deadlines, ensuring adherence throughout the year.

  • Collaborate with other risk and control teams to align activities, share outcomes, and produce accurate reporting.

  • Always act in line with the Group Code of Conduct and Fitness & Propriety policies.

Experience, knowledge & skills:

  • Previous experience within a data protection team, ideally in financial services.

  • Hands-on experience performing monitoring and testing of controls.

  • Proven ability to investigate, identify root causes and introduce resolutions.

  • Knowledge of business information systems and privacy lifecycles.

  • Familiarity with data protection laws including GDPR, DPA 1998, and PECR 2003 (Privacy & Electronic Communications Regulations)

  • Strong planning, organising, and prioritisation skills.

Behaviours:

  • Collaborative and team-focused, while equally confident working independently.

  • Enthusiastic, curious and keen to continuously learn.

  • Calm, resilient and able to keep control under pressure.

If you’re ready to bring your skills and energy into a fast-moving, supportive team where privacy really matters, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and let’s see if you’re the fit we’re looking for.
