We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Software Developer to join our Technology and Data team in either Salford Quays, Manchester or our offices in Guernsey.
You will work in close collaboration with our internal Platform Support team, improving the Group’s Core Application portfolio, supporting the development of our internal tooling and providing technical consultancy on a day-to-day basis
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to:
- Have extensive knowledge and experience of Microsoft .Net and SQL development, with knowledge of Angular 11+ being highly advantageous.
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Have good stakeholder management skills with the ability to work in a cross-skilled team.
Job responsibilities:
- Provide First Central with technical expertise in developing the Group’s core software applications.
- Provide technical expertise into the Platform Support team that supports the Group Core Applications.
- Working collaboratively with the team to assist the operation of the production applications, the applicant will improve the production platform, develop our internal tooling capability and provide day-to-day technical consultancy.
- Provide upskilling and mentorship to Platform Support, with an aim to "shift left" repeatable capabilities currently carried out within the development teams.
- Develop technical capabilities to forward the Group Core Applications as directed by the IT Technical Operations Manager.
- Work within a team of Developers, delivering technical solutions through the common software delivery approach.
- Support relationships with the other areas of IT to ensure that the IT Technical Operations team works in harmony with the other change and IT functions, with a particular focus on a DevOps culture.
- Work with the Solution Architecture function to ensure Solutions support the architectural direction of First Central technology.
- Work to the agreed prioritisation for development by understanding stakeholder priorities, the technical capability of the platform and the strategies of both the business and technology.
- Design, produce and update any necessary supporting documentation to enable IT operations to manage components/ processes.
- Identify and feedback any potential improvements to the organisations technology architecture.
- To ensure compliance with company and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times.
- Any other reasonable duties as required.
Experience & knowledge
- Good experience of enterprise service-oriented development.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience of Microsoft .Net development.
- Good experience of Angular 11+.
- Understanding of Agile Development and DevOps practices.
- Good experience of Microsoft SQL Server.
