We’re First Central Insurance & Technology Group (First Central for short), an award-winning innovative insurance and technology organisation, delivering market-leading motor insurance, underwriting, distribution, finance, technology and legal services.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager (SICL) to join our Skyfire Insurance Company Limited (SICL) Underwriting team in Gibraltar.  

You'll ensure smooth operational delivery and resilience for the Company, supporting the SICL MD and Management Committee in co-ordinating the achievement of cross functional objectives. Developing and maintaining policy and procedures, you'll provide leadership in product outcomes whilst overseeing the effective running of day-to-day SICL activities, including SICL Governance Framework, outsourcing management, policy development and implementation, business continuity and disaster recovery.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have:

  • An understanding legislations in Gibraltar

  • Understanding of the Insurance industry with preferable prior exposure to the General Insurance and/or Financial Services Regulated industry

  • Previous experience in Operations and understanding of good corporate governance

Job Responsibilities:                                         

  • Operations- oversee the effective running of day-to-day SICL activities including SICL Governance Framework, outsourcing management, policy development and implementation, business continuity and disaster recovery. To ensure the operations function meets agreed objectives and service levels.

  • Product Governance- Develop and maintain policy and procedures. Provide leadership in product outcomes.

  • Conduct- Oversee Conduct Risk and lead the effective delivery of fair and good customer outcomes.

  • Data, Information & Technology – Provide liaison leadership between external data, information & technology services and internal technical functions.

  • Transformation – Act as a point of contact for initiative activity.

  • External Parties- Support engagement and reporting with trade, governmental and regulatory bodies.

  • Administration- support board and regulatory presentation production where relevant.

  • YouFirst- Lead on the planning and implementation of pillar activities such as wellbeing, volunteering, community and environment

  • Office Management – Office logistics and administration.

  • Support the SICL MD in any ad-hoc activities as required

Job Specific Competencies:


  • Previous experience in Operations

  • Understanding of good corporate governance

  • Good understanding of Commercial and Business landscapes

  • Experience managing senior stakeholders at Management, Executive and Board level.

  • Preferably prior exposure to the General Insurance and/or Financial Services industry


  • Highly Organised with excellent time management skills

  • Good attention to detail

  • High level of communication (verbal and written)

  • Ability to work at pace against challenging deadlines

  • Ability to question and obtain information from others

  • Excellent work ethic and diligence in production and ownership of work and responsibilities

  • Competent IT and software skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint


  • Overview understanding legislations in Gibraltar

  • Understanding of the Insurance industry preferable
