We have a great opportunity for an Assistant Company Accountant to join our Finance team in Haywards Heath, West Sussex on a 6 months fixed term contract.

We’re looking for someone to be a key figure in the day-to-day running of the accountancy department. You’ll be responsible for preparing the monthly management accounts across the group, ensuring high integrity of information and that regulatory requirements are adhered to.

You’ll be required to manage the purchase and sales ledger process, ensuring all suppliers and customers are paid within payment terms.

Job responsibilities
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, accruals, prepayments and month-end journals
  • Transfer pricing
  • Posting of daily cashbook transaction
  • Cashbook and balance sheet reconciliation
  • Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
  • Invoicing third party referral income
  • Preparation of aggregator costs and managing the deferred aggregator model
  • Completion of all technical payment schedules and monthly settlements
  • Monthly/yearly audit file preparation for year-end accounts
  • Assist the Company Accountant with ONS forms and VAT return
  • Dealing with all queries received into the Finance inbox
  • Posting of purchase ledger invoices, staff expenses and credit card expenses
  • Ensuring all invoices are authorised in accordance with the Delegation of Authority Policy
Skills, knowledge & experience
  • AAT qualified, preferably studying early stages of CIMA or ACCA
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Company Accountant or similar
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good time management skills, with the ability to meet tight reporting deadlines
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to adopt a logical approach 
  • Comprehensive understanding of the accounting policies and standards
  • Knowledge of FCA requirements (including Treating Customers Fairly)
  • An organised and proactive approach
  • Take responsibility for tasks and see them through to completion
  • Great attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in recording and reporting
  • Flexible approach to work and a positive attitude
  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
