We have an exciting opportunity for a Programme Manager on a fixed term basis to join our Underwriting team in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, as we continue to grow.
 
This is a new, key role, which will report into our Chief Underwriting Officer and drive our business change initiatives within Underwriting and Pricing aligned to our group strategy.
 
Responsibilities 
  • Establish and maintain a roadmap of change that delivers strategic goals and financial/non-financial benefits
  • Own and control the budget and business case for the programme(s) of projects under the role holder’s control
  • Maintain momentum and direction, delivering to the agreed scope, timeframe and budget with resource planning and accurate estimation treated as fundamental principles  
  • Ensure effective requirements, plans, reporting and stakeholder management processes are in place for all the projects comprising the programme(s) the role holder leads
  • Identify programme risks, issues and dependencies, ensuring effective mitigation is in place and under active management
  • Ensure that all mandatory regulatory, compliance and business/systems architectural requirements are complied with across the programme of work
  • As part of the Programme team, contribute to the further development of change processes, delivery methodology and the broader change capability
 
Skills, knowledge & experience
 
  • Knowledge of transformation programmes within the insurance sector with a preference for underwriting and pricing
  • Demonstrable experience of managing a diverse change portfolio with concurrent initiatives underpinned by proven dexterity, creativity and the efficient use of resources
  • Experience of estimating and controlling substantial project/programme budgets
  • Formal Project and Programme Management qualifications such as APMP, PRINCE2, Agile Project Management or equivalent is desirable
  • Senior stakeholder management expertise
  • Leadership – the ability to look ahead and understand/mitigate risks, and the ability to see the few key issues in a situation, problem or delivery and – working with others – cut through to the solution
  • Strong communication skills – articulate an argument and persuade senior stakeholders with robust and comprehensive communication
  • Effective planning and understanding the key components of all plans
  • Financial management – the ability to estimate and budget effectively, allowing for suitable contingency, and the ability to put together a robust and achievable business case
  • Ability to work effectively with others collaboratively and as a team for optimal results
  • Ability not only to deliver programmes of change but to contribute to the capability development of the programmes and Change team
  • Commercially focused and results driven
